If you know what causes a stomach ache, then the chances are good that you can stop from having other bout of stomach discomfort. And here are 3 tips for you to consider...

dog food for sensitive stomachs

1. Eating to fast and do not chew up your food well. Don't forget to chew your food gently and well! If you eat too speedily you could swallow air and cause stomach aches and gas. Just think about how a baby swallows air when drinking a bottle and causes gas and colic. Even though adults have a fully grown digestive system, we still have the possibly to swallow air if we eat to fast causing a stomach ache after eating.

Sensitive Stomachs

And if you sparsely chew your food, you end up with larger food sizes in your stomach so your stomach has to work overtime to break down these more or less whole bite sized food pieces. If larger sized food bites do not break down properly, which sometimes happens, the food goes straight through to your intestines in larger pieces keeping from receiving your full nutritional impact you could receive from the food that you had eaten.

So make sure you chew, chew, chew to keep from that terrible stomach ache after eating, nobody wants an upset tummy.

2. Eating processed foods. We all know these products are packed with chemicals and synthetic ingredient. Most times they are made from foods that are raised, specially modified and engineered. And as a result your stomach has to furnish excess stomach acids to process all the fat and highly refined ingredients.

If your stomach does not furnish enough acids to compensate, you could end up with nausea and a stomach ache for hours. Most nothing else but processed foods are a method for a stomach ache after eating this type of food.

Processed foods have very microscopic nutrition, full of fat but taste great of course. You know why fast food hamburgers and fries taste so good and keep you craving for more? These foods from your beloved fast food nothing else but artificially stimulate a publish of a neurotransmitter dopamine causing you to just love the fast food taste.

3. Avoid highly acidic foods and beverages. If you are having problems with stomach acids, acid reflux, sour stomachs, have a sensitive stomach, I would stay far away from highly acidic foods and drinks unless you are on a specialized diet for stomach ailments.

And yes distinct berries have lots of acid like cranberries and blackberries, lemons, grapefruits, pomegranates, and pickles. And believe it or not, green peppers are acidic. I have the worst stomach aches from eating foods with green peppers in them. Coffee, energy drinks and orange or grapefruit juices are excessively acidic. Acidic foods and drinks can cause awful stomach irritation and can cause havoc on your digestion process.

Dhauti - An exquisite Stomach Cleanser

Dhauti is a shuddhikriya which means the act of cleaning. It specifically cleans the stomach. Since is one of the main organ in the human body and the condition of the human being is dependent on the condition of the stomach. Hence it becomes very prominent for you to clean your stomach. Dhauti is the useful operation for this cleansing.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Dhauti is of three types:

Sensitive Stomachs

o Vamana-dhauti: This is the easiest of all the three types. In this process you have to drink about six glasses of water and then vomit it out by putting the index and the middle fingers in the mouth till uvula. You throw up the water, which brings along with it the impurities in the stomach.

o Danda-dhauti: Repeat the above process but instead of inserting the fingers, you insert a rubber tube of about three feet in distance and the width slightly more than the lead pencil. It is gulped down gently so that one end of the tube reaches the stomach while the other end is held outside the mouth. Bend the trunk forward and this siphoning operation will bring out the water from the stomach. When all the water is thrown out, bring out the rubber tube. Before using the tube, clean and disinfect it by inserting it in the boiling water for a few minutes. It is difficult for a lot of people to insert the tube without vomiting because the throat is sensitive to the touch stimuli. For them it is advisable to go for the vamana-dhauti since it is the simpler of the two. The advantage of danda-dhauti is that there is no spasm of the stomach wall and the water is thrown out very smoothly.

o Vastra-dhauti: This is the most difficult but useful dhauti. Here a strip of fine muslin cloth of about three inches in width and twenty feet in distance is taken. It is washed and disinfected by dipping it in boiling water for some time and rolled up. Hold one end of it in the middle of the two fingers and insert it into the mouth. Gulp it down slowly. Stop gulping when only six inches of the cloth remain outside the mouth. Take care to ensure that you do not let the other end go into the mouth. Churn the abdomen by Nauli with the cloth inside the stomach. Now remove the strip gently by pulling out the other end of the cloth. This dhauti cleanses the stomach by rubbing itself against the inner lining of the stomach wall and removing all the impurities from the stomach.

Dhauti has a great therapeutic value. You can use it as a part of yogic treatment of disorders like acidity and asthma.

Negative Food Allergy Testing Is Not The Same As Food Intolerance And Food Sensitivity Testing

You can be intolerant to a food to which you are not "allergic". Food intolerance or sensitivity is much more coarse that food allergy. It estimated that somewhere between 6-10% of citizen are allergic to a food or foods but between 30-60% of citizen are intolerant to one or more foods or the additives or chemicals in food.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Food allergy testing will be negative if you are not allergic even though you are intolerant or sensitive to a food, additive or chemical. Food allergy is an abnormal immune response or reaction to a food protein. It is due to the same response to inhaled pollens or allergens. It results when the body makes a exact type antibody or immunoglobulin, known as IgE, to a food. When the food is eaten the IgE antibody recognizes the food protein as foreign and triggers the publish of chemicals, especially histamine, from allergy cells in the body. This results in characteristic symptoms of swelling, itching, rash or hives, wheezing, shortness of breath, cough, low blood pressure and rarely death when the food is eaten.

Sensitive Stomachs

Testing for food allergy consists of blood tests for the IgE antibodies (Rast) or the nearnessy of a hive like reactions produced from histamine released at the site of skin prick, injection or patch experience with the food. The many food reactions that are not due to an allergic immune response provocative IgE or histamine will have general Rast IgE antibody levels and negative skin testing. Some of these food sensitivity or intolerance reactions are due to other antibodies such as IgA, IgM, or IgG. These antibodies may be detected in the blood, stool or saliva though such tests are not as well validated, acceptable or available, especially in the U.S.

Diet treatments provocative elimination of foods based on elevated IgG, IgM or IgA antibodies in the blood, evacuated stool samples, saliva or intestinal fluid retrieved from the body have shown mixed or to moderate success in citizen with rheumatoid arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome. The most well understood but still under recognized autoimmune food sensitivity with a genetic basis is gluten sensitivity, also known as Celiac disease. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is much more coarse than Celiac disease but even less well recognized. Lactose intolerance is the most coarse food intolerance and often confused with the second most coarse food sensitivity, cow's milk protein or casein sensitivity. Gluten free casein free diet is now commonly employed as a medicine for autism. The medical society has commonly been slow to accept gluten free casein free diet for autism, considering it unproven, though there is tremendous scientific and experiential data to maintain this safe and often dramatically productive treatment.

Testing for IgG antibodies to foods in the blood is ready from a few industrial laboratories. Saliva IgA antibody testing for foods is also ready straight through any laboratories. These tests are commonly not universally by condition assurance and are often rejected as not valid or reliable by many doctors. Stool testing for IgA antibodies to gluten, tissue transglutaminase, dietary yeast, cow's milk protein (casein), soy, and chicken egg is ready from Enterolab. This laboratory does not ageement with any condition assurance and most will not reimburse for the cost of testing. Most doctors either are unaware of this testing and either don't accept the tests as valid or don't know how to clarify the results.

Testing for mediator publish (Mrt) testing looks for an evidence of publish of chemical mediators from immune blood cells triggered by foods, additives or chemicals. The nearnessy of such a reaction is presumed to indicate sensitivity to such foods, additives or chemicals that can yield various symptoms and when substances producing such reactions are avoided or eliminated symptoms are suppose to heighten significantly or resolve. Mrt is ready commercially straight through Signet Diagnostic Corporation (www.nowleap.com). any assurance carriers pay for at least a part of the cost of this testing however because it is carefully "out of network" for most plans patients are commonly responsible for cost of the service. Some carriers consider the testing "experimental" or not validated and therefore do not cover the testing.

The principle of Mrt testing is that sure foods, additives and chemicals are capable of triggering non-allergy immune-based reactions. These reactions publish various immune chemical mediators into the blood. If an immune reaction is triggered and these mediators are released, changes occur in the ratio of solids (cells) to liquid (blood serum) that can be measured. The white blood cells and platelets shrink and the volume of the liquid increases. The degree of convert can be measured and reported as mild or moderate to severe corresponding with the degree of sensitivity to that particular food, additive or chemical.

Signet claims success with reducing or eliminating a myriad of symptoms or conditions along with migraines, headaches, autistic behavior, anxiety, depression, Add, sinus and ear, nose and throat problems, irritable bowel syndrome, vomiting syndromes, Celiac, persisting stomach aches, bladder problems, fibromyalgia, arthritis, eczema, hives, and persisting fatigue syndrome. The testing includes a allinclusive color description booklet containing a results exact diet plan with detailed facts supplemented with any hours of personalized counseling from a dietician.

Of all the food intolerance or sensitivity testing Mrt is the most broad and comprehensive. It looks for actual reaction produced by the body in response to foods or chemicals. Signet provides testing for 150 foods or chemicals (123 foods and 27 chemicals) along with nitrates, nitrites, Msg and various food dyes. The limitation of all these tests is lack of universal acceptance by physicians and coverage by insurance. However, for those with suspected intolerance to foods or chemicals in whom ready testing is negative or indeterminate, such testing can be quite helpful.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

Don't be fooled by buying foods labeled as chemical and preservative free makes them safe, then think again. but it's just more lies! A lot of pet foods advertised as "preservative-free" , contain preservatives. Manufacturers are not required to have to list preservatives that they themselves did not add. How much sense does that make??

So many preservatives make their way into pet food at rendering plants before the meat is even sent to the manufacturer. An analysis of several pet foods labeled "chemical free" or "all natural ingredients" found synthetic antioxidants in all samples."

But don't expect to see it on the label, since it is often added at the rendering plant and not by the manufacturer, ethoxyquin (EQ) is used to preserve most dry pet food. Now, EQ is the most powerful of all preservatives and may be the most toxic. The use of EQ is permitted in pet food. But factory workers exposed to EQ exhibited side effects similar to those of agent orange: a rise in liver or kidney damage, cancerous skin lesions, hair loss, blindness, leukemia, fetal abnormalities, and chronic diarrhea.

EQ In animals has been linked to: immune deficiency syndrome, spleen, stomach, and liver cancers, and a host of allergies."

And one more thing, did you know that before the animal parts and by-product used for pet food are shipped from the slaughterhouse to the rendering plant, the by-product is denatured. Which means that crude carbolic acid, cresylic disinfectant, or citronella, is sprayed on the product. That's enough to make you sick!! And certainly it's enough to make your dog sick!!

What Does Your Stomach Have to Do With Bad Breath?

Your mouth is the entry point of your digestive system. Your digestive principles can be part of the problem of bad breath. Not the food that you're eating, but how your food is being digested can cause less than fresh breath.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

There are various foods that cause your breath to smell unpleasant. I'm not talking about garlic or onions or other foods that have a potent odor, which can give you a temporary bad breath. That problem can be fixed with gum or breath mints or by brushing your teeth.

Sensitive Stomachs

Dairy products

Dairy products, like milk, cheese or butter, can indirectly cause bad breath. It's not because they include fat. It's because your stomach cannot literally digest these types of foods. Population with this problem may be called lactose intolerant, because it's lactose which is difficult to digest. Lactose is a very dense protein molecule. If you happen to be lactose intolerant, eating dairy products may lead to breath that is unpleasant.

Flora in our intestines?

There are bacteria in your intestines, good bacteria. We call these intestinal flora. These are the bacteria that digest your food. If you don't have enough, then food in your intestinal tract remains there for too long, causing continuing bad breath (also known as halitosis).

If you're taking or have just taken antibiotics, they can kill off intestinal flora. You might've noticed that when you're taking antibiotics you had halitosis, but when you weren't taking antibiotics your breath was okay. This is a good indication that you need to restore your intestinal flora, using supplements, or just eating yogurt. Eat plain unsweetened yogurt to restore intestinal flora. If you are lactose intolerant then you may want to use a supplement instead.

It's inherent that undigested food can remain in your intestines for years. When that happens mucus is created to enclose the toxins in these undigested foods. If you think you have this condition, doing a cleanse or a fast, which will fully clean out your digestive tract, is something to consider. Consult with a condition care practitioner before you start a cleanse or fast.

On a diet? Doing a fast?

Eating a low carb diet sometimes can cause halitosis. The process of burning fat as a fuel, instead of carbohydrates, is called ketosis. "Ketone bodies" are produced while ketosis, and they have a sickly sweet smell that may be noticed on your breath, as well as in your urine. This is literally a good sign, it means that your diet is working. If you're on a low-carb diet and want to reduce your bad breath symptoms, drinking fullness of water will help dilute the ketone bodies.

Your stomach can be one of the factors causing less than fresh breath. If you're practicing good oral hygiene, and you still have breath problems, then you may want to consult with a healthcare practitioner about some of these other inherent causes.

Stomach Cramps - Things to Ponder while Menopause

Menopause is a transition stage in a woman's life when she stops menstruating for over 12 months continuously. When menopause sets in, the ovaries stop output of eggs, resulting in irregular menstrual operation that finally ceases. Other hormonal changes occur and symptoms like stomach cramps, pain in the leg, irritability, mood swings, hot flashes and decrease in bone density accompany menopause.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Menopause ordinarily occurs in the middle of the ages of 40 and 55, and is a natural event in every woman's life. It comes with its own string of health issues, be they corporeal or emotional, and can be a particularly trying time for those who suffer side effects of menopausal symptoms. They are just ways in which our body reacts to the decrease in output of female hormones.

Sensitive Stomachs

Menopause and Stomach Cramps: Symptoms

Some women (the luckiest of the lot) may touch few symptoms, while others complain of mild to severe ones. However, the reassuring part is that the inequity is normal. Women experiencing pelvic pain or cramps during menopause may recall suffering the same right before or during their menstrual periods and this may have a link to their hormonal cycle.

A base phenomenon during menstruation, this pelvic pain is termed as dysmenorrhea. However, if these stomach cramps occur during menopause and are severe adequate to interfere with daily activities, then the cause may be an underlying health and should be checked by a doctor.

Menopause and Stomach Cramps: Treatments

Stomach cramps experienced during menopause may be for a long duration or occur infrequently for a short spell. If intense uterine contractions occur due to the hormonal changes taking place during menopause and are too prolonged, healing rehabilitation for the cause may be principal to get relief. Some Over the Counter (Otc) drugs are available to sacrifice pain and pain connected with them and those medications that do not include steroids are preferable.

Other pleasurable options (since most of the gentler species would think a pleasurable choice to a merely therapeutic one) are, for menopausal women to enjoy a good, long soak in a hot bath or use a heating pad on the abdomen. The heat from the hot water or pad helps in expanding the blood flow and this reduces these or muscle spasms.

Menopause and Stomach Cramps: Psychological Counseling

A nutritionally balanced, healthy diet, regular corporeal exercise, adequate rest, cutting back on alcohol intake and cigarette smoking also helps in reducing them during menopause. If the stomach cramps are so severe that they preclude you from enjoying your routine activities and timely rest does not help, it can be due to some other corporeal or emotional/behavioral disorders.

This kind of abdominal cramp can manifest itself in other ways and worsen behavioral symptoms like irritability, hostility, aggressive behavior, anxiety and depression. For treating this properly, it is very important for a woman to speak to man she can confide in about any troublesome issues she may be facing or seek medical/psychological counseling to bring out the underlying issue so it can be dealt with effectively.

Doctors recommend a inevitable change in lifestyle and guidance all such women to eat a balanced diet, take their vitamins on time, merge regular rehearsal in their life and learn to take things easier. These tips go a long way in reducing stress, the underlying cause for stomach cramps and menopause discomfort.

Dogs and Diarrhea - What is Causing This Condition

It's a fact that dogs and diarrhea seem to have their battles during the course of a dog's life. For starters, dogs and diarrhea can be a challenge especially if the event happens often or the dog has chronic diarrhea. What are some of the causes of diarrhea that can be eliminated or treated to alleviate this problem?

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Some breeds of dog have very sensitive stomachs and any change in their diet can affect their digestive system. If fact, if you have a dog on a certain brand of kibble and want to change to another type food, preferably a natural kibble containing no harmful preservatives, you must change slowly.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

Start off by mixing the foods together and giving a greater amount of the new food gradually. If you abruptly change food completely at once your dog will probably have bad diarrhea.

If your dog gets into the garbage and eats something that his system is not familiar with, this can cause diarrhea especially if it is something rich and greasy like part of a steak or the skin of a chicken.

There are many types of parasites that a dog can have within his stomach and intestines. There are round worms, whip worms, pin worms, tapeworms, and hookworms to name a few. Puppies are especially prone to round worms, which is why you should have them wormed at about five weeks of age.

More of these type worms can be eliminated easily with a all round worm medicine provided by your vet, but hook worms can be difficult. They in-bed their hook into the intestines and suck the blood out causing bloody diarrhea.

Poison is something to consider. Your dog might have gotten into the poison the exterminator put down for rodent control only to have your dog eat some of it. This will not only cause diarrhea, but can be deadly if enough is eaten.

As you can see, dogs and diarrhea do have their battles for many reasons. Identifying them can sometimes be difficult.

There are many illnesses that cause diarrhea as a symptom of the illness, such as infection of the colon and stomach. Whatever the reason make sure you choose a safe and effective natural remedy to treat the diarrhea.

Gluten Free Dog Food - What Is a Glutenless Dog Food Diet?

There are dogs that are very sensitive to grains. There are also dogs that develop allergies that cause numerous health problems. The sensitivity may be just to wheat gluten, but caution dictates a preference to a gluten-free diet. In the year 2007, thousands of dogs died or became seriously ill after eating wheat gluten that was tainted. Owners began to pay more attention to the ingredient labels on dog food. After investigating nutrition labels, you will notice that many of them have wheat or corn gluten as one of the primary ingredients.

With such a high percentage of gluten also came the higher carbohydrate content. This has the potential of being harmful to dogs with diabetes. They have also done research that suggests that high carbohydrate diets may contribute to degenerative and chronic diseases. A gluten free diet can help improve a dog's health and well-being. During this study, they also found that some dogs that are fed table scraps live longer than those on strict commercially prepared diets.

Dog Food

It has also been found that dogs can have Celiac Disease. This is caused by gluten intolerance. A gluten free diet is a successful treatment for Celiac's Disease. With Celiac Disease, the body sees gluten as a hostile invader and attacks. The intestines become damaged and along with the rest of the digestive tract. Irish Setters are the only breed that has been documented to have the disease.

A gluten free diet will give your dog more energy, decrease arthritis pain and irritable bowel syndrome. More and more breeders and kennel owners are switching to these grain free diets to bring out the positive characteristics they desire in their dogs.

You may be able to find a gluten free diet in better pet stores. Most have no grains and high quality proteins. They change the standard beef ingredients to fish, lamb, turkey or chicken. The starch may be potatoes, brown rice or carb heavy vegetables. The carbohydrates in vegetables digest more slowly than simple carbs such as wheat and corn.

The Shocking Truth About Commercial Dog Food Every Dog Owner Needs To Know

With the commercial pet food industry being under the gun in recent times, it can be hard for any of us to believe that we will not be seeing more pet food recalls in the near future. The sad truth is that the dog food we buy in the stores has the potential to cause extreme illness to our dogs.

dog food container

The pet food industry did not just taint themselves, they also caused concern and heartbreak among many dog owners that will never be able to regain the faith that most of us all took for granted with this industry.

Dog Food

Many pet owners lost their dogs - someone they considered members of their families - over tainted dog food incidents. Many dog lovers will never trust the commercialized dog food industry ever again.

Beyond tainted dog food, the large dog food companies have always been in the practice of providing food for dogs that is not healthy for our pets to begin with. This has always been a problem and still is today. There are hidden dangers in dog food many of us are not aware of.

The trend recently has been for us humans to eat better. The more nutritious the food is that we consume means we live healthier lives. Paying attention to diet and avoiding foods that have excessive fats and processed sugars, especially in the processed foods we buy, helps us to maintain bodies that are fit and trim.

Yet, do we consider what foods we purchase for our dogs to eat? Are we simply buying certain dog food based on what we think our pets like the best to eat? You owe it to your pooch to pay close attention to what you are putting in it's precious tummy.

There are some ingredients in dog food that we should flat out avoid. They are not healthy or reliable in quality for pet consumption. They are also used heavily in the dog food industry by the larger companies.

Corn gluten meal is a by-product. This is added to absorb the toxins of the food as it is being cooked and processed. Unfortunately dogs don't digest corn very well. In fact, corn is one of the biggest causes of allergies in dogs. The reason many commercial dog food companies use corn is because it is a very cheap source of protein and is used as filler in the food.

Chicken by-product meal is also used in the dog food industry. This is made up of parts of the chickens feet, necks, intestines, etc. They use this as a source of protein as well, yet this it is of such low grade that it does nothing for your dog. It also has the potential to be toxic or tainted.

Soybean meal is also used as a protein source in dog food. The protein is a decent quality, however Soybean is also the number one allergy that dogs suffer from.

There are other ingredients to consider, but I think you have gotten the gist of why some of the major brands of dog food that are on the supermarket shelves should be avoided.

When you do your research about feeding your dog the right foods, you will be amazed at the changes you see. Your dogs mood, energy levels, skin, bathroom habits and even their behavior will improve. It's amazing what a change in diet will do.

This article isn't supposed to scare you off of commercial dog food entirely, but you do need to know what to look for. Use the link at the bottom of this article for more information about finding the right foods for your pup.

There are resources available to begin feeding your dog with food that is not only tasty, but also nutritious to their dietary needs. You want your dog to live a long, happy and healthy life - do what you can to help them out by feeding them the right diet.

Is Your Dog Food on the Top 10 Best Dog Food List?

Just because a brand of dog food is well-known does that make it the best dog food to feed your pet? Brand names are often well advertised but that does not mean they are what is right for your dog.

dog food bin

Your vet, unfortunately, does not have the best dog food available for your canine. Just because it is sold by your veterinarian does not mean it is the healthiest food available.

Dog Food

After my Beagle started having Seizures, I have spent many hours researching how to pick the best food. I have learned more about how to decipher a dog food label and understand what all the ingredients are, than most people know about their own human food.

The problem was the more research I would do the deeper I would get into this ugly world of commercial pet foods.

It became apparent that in order for me to be sure I was feeding the best food, I would need to understand a whole lot more about how the pet food industry worked.

I have documented my findings in many articles about the pet food industry, which is virtually self-regulated, and about how the industry uses deceptive labeling language to deceive pet owners about true contents of pet food.

There is only one law out there that helps us choose the best pet food, and that is the one stating that all ingredients must be listed in order of decreasing weight. So you need to look at the first ingredient and if it reads corn, then it doesn't matter if the bag says Turkey dinner, the main ingredient is corn.

You shouldn't pay as much attention to the brand as you should to the ingredient list. After you make it through the first couple of ingredients that you think you understand what they are, that is where the fun begins.

Some of the top brands, use dried egg products as one of their ingredients, this not the same as using eggs. The truth is that what goes into dried egg products is not fit for human consumption, so why would we feed it to our dogs? As well as with Chicken by-products, they are completely different from the chicken that you would eat.

These ingredients are just the ones that you can kind of figure out what they might be, but how about the preservatives and vitamins listed that you probably won't have a clue what they are?

This why I was happy to find during my research a very strict guide of what to look for on the label, and this is what I use to find the food, for my dogs.

I thought I would have a very tough time winnowing down 150 brands down to the top 10 best available but I could find only 10 brands that deserved to be on that list. When you compare the labels on these 10 to the brands your Vet are selling, you are going to start to take healthy feeding decisions out of the hands of your Vet and do it yourself.

Dog Food For Puppies - What Do They Need And Why?

A healthy and nutritious dog food for your puppy is more critical than an adult dog food is for an adult. A puppy's development and overall longevity is dependent on the proper balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates your dog is fed.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Hopefully this article will be of great interest to you. We sincerely hope the following will be a great and simple aid to you in selecting the right dog food for your puppy.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

Why is it so essential that your puppy be fed such a food? Because when they are a puppy, it is mandatory that they get the nourishment and necessary vitamins, minerals and wholesome ingredients, during their process of maturing into adulthood. Their beginning years are formidable as they transcend into adulthood. Just like a new baby, their formula and proper administration of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, catapults a baby into a healthy adult. An adult with all the antibody's and necessary good things it needs to resist illnesses. Well, your puppy deserves the same treatment.

A diet that has been specifically formulated to meet the needs of a puppy, as compared to an adult dog are higher in fat and protein. A puppy's life stage requires more protein and fats than does an adult dog, mainly, due to their overall energy and the fact that they grow so quickly. They need a puppy food that can fuel these needs while providing the proper nourishment as their digestive system breaks down their food very quickly. They have less time to fully absorb the nutrients through the normal process of digestion. This means that you have to become an earnest and knowledgeable label reader, carefully examining the ingredients used in the puppy food you may be considering.

You must now be wondering how you are going to accomplish what seems to be a Herculean task, especially when you browse the isle at your super market or pet store. Just how will you know what the right ingredients are, and how valuable or harmful will they be to your puppy? The answer to this question is much easier to get than you think it is. Arm yourself with the proper guides and then take the time to read the ingredients listed on the label. Your task will be an easy one once you know what to avoid, and what your puppy really needs.

As a rule of thumb, after ruling out the bad ingredients, all you have to do is find the proper balance in percentages, of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Again, ruling out the bad ingredients is very, very easy. There are many articles available to demonstrate what to avoid. As good practice goes, find a food that has no more than 25% protein, and that the protein is easily digestible. When you read the list of ingredients, you will see which are the good protein sources, and which are the cheap and harmful bone meals offered by so many of the puppy food manufacturers of today. Also, remember to avoid fillers. They are just that, fillers, and are a waste of money and a non nutritional source for your puppy. In some cases, fillers may even cause gastric and digestive problems in your puppy.

Look for products that meet the minimum necessary ingredients that your puppy needs. This would be a line of dog food that offers a wide variety of all natural, organic, raw dog meals all blended into a very healthy and nutritious diet. Would you eat food that was not of high quality and nutrition, of course not? So don't give your puppy this kind of food. Instead, the brands that manufacturer the kinds of products mentioned in this paragraph, usually follow a human grade and quality standards of care and processing. In short, they care as much for your pets welfare as you do. Well, almost.

Remember to tailor, your puppy's life stages to its food. Their needs constantly change as they progress closer and closer to adulthood. A good meal, consists of carbohydrate's, vegetables, fruits and chicken and turkey free of grains. These are the kinds of diets that are highly recommended by veterinarians, and is what they generally feed their puppies. You will also find that a gluten free meal works very well for a puppy with a sensitive stomach.

Again, remember to avoid the highly advertised and highly promoted commercial dog foods, unless, you have diligently checked the ingredients being used. If they are very low on nutrition and quality ingredients, then avoid these manufacturers as they are only interested in high company profits, and not the welfare of your dog.

Home Remedy For Yeast Infection - Berberine and Betaine

A home remedy for yeast infection is Berberine. Berberine is an alkaloid found in herbs such as goldenseal, barberry, and Oregon grape. It fights Candida and parasite overgrowth (especially amoebae) and normalizes intestinal flora. Berberine stimulates the immune system, soothes inflamed mucous membranes, and helps diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. It is very well tolerated and commonly associated with no side effects.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Betaine and pepsin hydrochloride, as well as other stomach acidifiers like glutamic acid and stomach bitters, dissolve Candida and fungi in the stomach. Antacids and acid-suppressing drugs like cimetidine and ranitidine lead to fungal infections because they eliminate the fungal-protective ensue of hydrochloric acid. Excess acid, however, can cause severe heartburn and lead to gastritis or peptic ulcer disease. The need for acid supplementation should be determined by tests ordered by a natural health-care practitioner.

Sensitive Stomachs

One of these tests is the Csda (comprehensive stool and digestive analysis). To precise low stomach acidity, most naturopaths advise starting the home remedy for yeast infection medicine by taking one capsule of betaine and pepsin hydrochloride (10 grains) with the first large meal. If this is tolerated, then growth to two capsules at the next large meal and keep increasing to a maximum of six capsules per large meal or to the point where a warm sensation is felt in the stomach, Smaller meals need proportionately lower doses of the betaine and pepsin.

A warm sensation means mat you nave taken more man me number or acid required to discharge your protein completely. At the next large meal take less than the dose that produced the warmth and stay at that dosage until the warm feeling returns. Then, lower the dosage of betaine and pepsin again.

This medicine is continued until one capsule per large meal produces the warm feeling, then the medicine is stopped. At this point, the stomach has healed sufficient to secrete sufficient amounts of acid on its own. Smaller meals (a sandwich, for example) need less betaine, and a warm feeling in the stomach will alert you to an inordinate dose.

When taking more than two capsules per meal, it's best to take the capsules during the meal at five-minute intervals. In most young adults, the whole home remedy for yeast infection medicine will take an midpoint of three months. during this time it is best to avoid dairy products and foods containing gluten (all grains except rice) since a sensitivity to these two food categories is often the hypothesize for the low stomach acidity in the first place.

What is Safe Puppy Food?

How do you know if you're feeding your puppy a safe puppy food? Let's start with what makes puppy food unsafe.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

One of the big things that could make a puppy food unsafe is the type of meat and meat by-products used. Every day thousands of animals are put down at the pound using a drug called Sodium Pentobarbital. Obviously Sodium Pentobarbital is highly toxic and it also can withstand extreme temperatures. Now they have all of these cats and dogs that they have to do something with and the dog food companies are willing to pay them for that meat.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

When livestock is slaughtered to go to the processing plant for human consumption there are parts that are not edible for us to eat. For example, if a cow has cancer in her lung or a puss filled cyst in her leg those parts have to be discarded. Waste means less money and the companies are willing to pay them a small amount for that meat.

Ever wondered what happens to road kill? The road kill that cannot be buried is also sold to canine food companies.

So dog food companies take all of these meats, poisoned cats and dogs (the poison does not cook out), diseased livestock, and decaying road kill and puts them in a rendering vat cooking it down until the portion left over for dog food production is a brown powder called meat meal.

Another thing dog food company's use in there food is preservatives. Basically all food that contains meat that sits at room temperature has preservatives in it otherwise the meat would go bad. One of the preservatives they use in dog food has been banned for human consumption for many years because the side effects of it are equivalent to Agent Orange.

There are many other ingredients in dog food that are horrible for dogs. Now I have to tell you that the more research I did on what was really in dog food the more horrified I became. It got to the point that I was not even willing to touch my dog's food. It took me about two weeks to actually switch her over to homemade food, it's a lot easier to do then I thought it would be. I know that's horrible considering the guilt trip I had every time I poured food in her bowl but old habits are hard to break and new habits are even harder to make.

Dog Diarrhea Medications For Your Dog's Collywobbles

Like people, dogs are vulnerable and prone to unhealthy conditions like diarrhea. Dog diarrhea is one of the most common issues pertaining to health. It can affect your dog at any chances and because of its prevalence, oftentimes this type of illness is considered not at all serious. But to some, especially to those who take high regard to their pet's health, become somewhat worried. They eventually seek the help of a veterinarian and ask for some dog diarrhea medications that are apt for their pet's condition.

dog food for sensitive stomachs

Dog diarrhea, even if considered widespread, does not easily affect your dog if proper care measures in pet keeping are observed. However, this case is caused by various things. One main reason is giving inappropriate amount or type of food to your beloved dogs. As a pet owner, you should be very keen and careful in choosing the kind of food to be fed to your pet. Just like people, dogs have sensitive appetites. Their appetites also need to be given the right kind and amount of food every time. Well, there are cases that it is not the pet owners who wrongly feed their pets. It is the pets themselves that take in foods or anything that arouses their curiosity (very many like children). So be sure to take a closer look at your pets especially when they are outside the house.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

Another possible cause is the result of vaccinations given to them. This is mostly due to the reactions of the vaccinations. Although considered normal, don't just ignore when this happens.

Moreover, parasites and other types of viruses or worms can also trigger your dog's stomach. These parasites easily transmit to the body when your dogs interact with the environment. Just like food, you should take heed in setting out your dogs outside. Be extra careful always.

A dog's emotion can also make their stomach upset. They are really a lot like people. Due to excitement and nervousness especially when they are brought away from home, they have the possibility to experience diarrhea. But basically, this kind of diarrhea won't last long because it is just only a result of too much pressure on their emotions.

How to recognize if your dog is experiencing this? If you see that your dog vomits, which is not a normal act of a healthy dog, then it is positively suffering from diarrhea. Like people, they also bowel unconditionally. This is due to the unwanted pressure in their digestive system.

Is it okay even if you won't bring your dog to its vet? Well in most cases, it is. But if the situation gets worse even if ample dog diarrhea medication has already been given, then it is more advisable to bring your dog to his veterinarian for a thorough check up.

Taking care of dogs is just like taking care of kids. Sometimes because of their hyper sensitivity and hyper ability, they become more prone to infections and illnesses. Even if proper care is given, it is not 100% sure that your dog can't be inflicted at any chance with diseases like dog diarrhea. Nevertheless, there's no reason at all for us to fret about this. There are lots of dog diarrhea medications that are available at any pet health stores near your place or even online. You can even buy non-prescription meds for this illness. But bear in mind, if the symptoms still persist, it is better to seek the advice of your vets.

Homemade Dog Food - Better Than Store Bought?

The dog food industry is a multi-billion dollar industry selling food to the majority of dog households across the world. They spend countless dollars on advertising and marketing to make people believe their brand is the best brand! They work all day, trying to increase profits. If this means, sacrificing a little quality in the product to deliver a better ratio of quantity per dollar cost, then so be it. Do these companies really care about our pets though? Often, dog food companies use meat that is unfit for human consumption. If we aren't supposed to eat it, how much better is it for our poor dogs?

dog food for dogs with allergies

I would say these companies really care about their pockets more than anything else. They don't care what's really best for our dogs as much as what's best for their stock portfolio and end of quarter summaries. If they aren't looking out for our pets, who is? The answer of course is us, the dog owners.

Dog Food

Dog owners do not need to purchase this high dollar food that's unnaturally processed and vitamin deficient. Wait! I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "I thought the store brand dog food was FULL of vitamins!" True. The dog food in the store is fortified with vitamins and minerals in an unnatural manner that doesn't give the dog the same ratio of proteins to carbs to fats, that you would find in natural food from nature. Also, I shouldn't have to remind you of all the dog food recalls that occurred in 2007. This is a classic example of quality being overlooked.

So how can we give our poor pooches the food they deserve? You can start by making Homemade Dog Food. Give your dogs, food that is made from home and eliminate the middle man. Also, it's not as hard as you may think. Dog food and treats are actually easy to make. Another concern you may have is that you were probably always under the impression that dogs that eat at home (via table scraps) are the most unhealthiest dogs statistically. The key term there was table scraps. Never give your dog "People Food". They aren't designed to digest the same food we eat and this is a leading cause of canine obesity.

A dogs diet must consist of approximately:

The Good Dog Food, The Bad And The Ugly Dog Food Ingredients

How many dog owners know something about good dog food when they buy their pet dogs? Having a dog can truly brighten up and enhance a person's life and their family too. When dog owners are not informed about quality dog nutritional needs, their dogs are very likely to be confronted with all sorts of health problems that results from the sub standard food they feed them. Most dog owners will attest to loving their dogs. Of course caring for them becomes a priority as their health affects their well being. Proper dog nutrition is the most important thing that you can give your pet. Our dogs depend on us to feed them, as such, it becomes our responsibility as owners to provide them with good dog food that they will need to eat in order to live a happier and disease-free lives.

First of all, in order to meet the dog nutrition requirements, you have to make sure that there are minerals, calcium in particular and quality protein in the diet. Another tip many people don't know, is that for a balanced good dog food, not only are proteins necessary, vitamins are also important. By treating your dog to a diet made from all natural fresh ingredients, you are ensuring that they eat nothing but the very best hypo allergenic foods balanced with the right amount of nutrients and vitamins. This small sacrifice ensures that our dog nutrition is balanced and healthy. There are special food nutritional tips that your veterinary can tell you about, since you may not know very much about the digestive system and the food needs of your pet. As it is very comfortable, we usually feed our four-legged canine friends canned dog foods, but this is not always good dog food.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

Sometimes animal by-products can be worse in canned dog food. These are the parts of many animals that no one wants, such as; lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, liver, blood, bone, and stomach and intestines. Somehow they end up in your dog's canned food. It is always very important to read those ingredient labels to understand what they mean, and also to know what your dog food is made of. If you invest in buying a premium good dog food, you can be rest assured that your dog is eating right. One other tip you may not know is that on the label, the components are listed by weight, and the first few ingredients comprise what makes up the majority of the food. Avoid too much carbohydrate as this can seriously shorten your dog's lifespan. It can lead to digestive problems and obesity, along with all the obesity-related health problems. A lot of grain and grain-related ingredients may increase the amount of carbohydrates in your dog's food, by up to seventy percent, while your average dog only needs less than thirty percent carbohydrates. Canned dog food and dog treats make feeding our pets easier, but what is really in those cans and plastic bags?

If the food is sub standard, or lacking in any nutrients or vitamins, the dog will equally be devoid of the said nutrition. Selecting a healthy diet for the family pet, you would expect, shouldn't be so difficult, but getting it wrong could cost you a lot on veterinary bills or worse still, losing your beloved pet. You should know what you feed your pets because what they eat can have a direct impact on their health.

Being able to feed your dog only the good dog food is a sign of care and love you have to put into your four-legged companion's health. I think that is a commitment and sacrifice worth making.

The Horror of Dog Food - Dog Food Rating System Reveals the Toxic Evil of Commercial Foods

A recent exercise in dog food rating shows that very few commercial products pass inspection.  In fact, most dog foods were found to be disgusting stews of ghastly ingredients based on grotesque recipes designed to increase corporate profits--even if the end result is damage to pet health.  The bottom line:  It's almost impossible to find truly healthy dog food in the store.

dog food bowls

Author Andrew Lewis has made a personal crusade out of investigating the dog food industry.  After discovering some of the horrible things that transpire in the manufacturing process and learning more about the significant health risks posed by most commercially available products, he created a dog food rating criteria and began testing scores of dog foods.

Dog Food

His findings?  Less than ten of them came close to passing inspection and he argues that even these products should be used sparingly.

That's why so many people are joining a chorus calling for the use of homemade dog food.  Unless you make your own dog food (which is surprisingly easy and inexpensive), you are at the mercy of the dog food industry and that means you'll be feeding your pet things like this:

Additives and chemicals that have been banned from human food because they're known to cause massive illness and to encourage disease.

The ground corpses of disease-riddled dead animals and the carcasses of pets who were put to sleep.  The poisons used to kill those animals makes its way into dog food, too.

Plastics and inorganic matter.  From the collars of dead cats to the plastic bags used for the moving of animal carcasses, a variety of unnatural substances find their way into dog food.

And that's only the beginning.  Dog food analysis conclusively demonstrates that we cannot trust the dog food industry to supply our pets with healthy options.  Instead, they continue to mass-produce low quality foods that fail to meet nutritional needs while simultaneously encouraging deadly disease.

Store bought dog food is a complete disaster that no truly loving pet owner could knowingly purchase or use.

Stomach Migraines, Because Migraines Aren't Just in the Head

There are times when citizen have all the along symptoms of throbbing head headaches. However, they do not contact the headaches per se. What they feel is an acute pain in their abdominal region. These migraines are called stomach migraines. Stomach throbbing head is carefully as a form of disease. The results of these migraines comprise recurrent vomiting and abdominal pain, often so intense that interfere with daily life.

Because stomach throbbing head does not have the usual headache that accompanies migraine, it can be very hard to tell when a person has stomach migraine. And although it is recognized as a serious type of migraine, there is puny data about stomach migraines. Bulk of the available data pertains to the symptoms of stomach throbbing head like sensitivity to light, irritability, diarrhea, loss of appetite, etc. It is more coarse in children but adults can still have this condition. These migraines are characterized by periodic bouts of abdominal pain that lasts for hours accompanied by paleness, vomiting and possibly fever. But puny is written about the throbbing head itself

Sensitive Stomachs

In children, it is very hard to diagnose cases of stomach migraines primarily because children can have a hard time communicating what they are feeling. They may also not be as keen in observing symptoms as adults. Also, when children undergo tests, often, the results do not show much information. This makes this condition very hard to diagnose. Also, it can be confused with other healing conditions such as appendicitis.

The likelihood that a child with abdominal throbbing head will still have migraines as an adult is high. But as the child becomes an adult, the symptoms of migraines will most likely change to something more typical such as that of head migraines. Because of this, it is indispensable that the disease is understood early on so as to minimize its succeed on a child. Migraines, in some cases, can have permanent consequences. It is best to treat a child very early in the migraine's progression. It also decreases the probability of the child becoming an adult with migraines.

When a inpatient is diagnosed with stomach migraines most doctors and specialists prescription Vpa or valproic acid to relieve suffering from those migraines. Some of them occur periodically. But for most of the stomach throbbing head cases that are infrequent, preventive or prophylaxis treatment is used. One example is Propranolol. It is a drug class known as beta-blockers. This treatment has proven to be efficient in treating migraines in children. Medications for migraines in the head are used to treat migraines in the stomach. These medications comprise anti nausea medications, triptans, etc. Other treatments comprise non-drug throbbing head treatments that have been helpful in both children and adults, such as freedom techniques. Other medications comprise cyproheptadine and Midrin. These medications are known to influence the levels of serotonin, a chemical in the brain. It also contains a mild sedative and acetaminophen.

Dog Food For Allergies: What Is Best for Your Dog?

What is the best dog food for allergies? Chances are that by the time you ask that question your beloved pet is suffering from common allergy symptoms like itchy or inflamed skin, eyes, back or tail; sneezing, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea or constant licking and scratching.

dog food for dogs with allergies

The truth is that just like human beings, dogs can be allergic to a variety of substances: shampoo, perfumes, cleaning or flea-control products or dust; however, when it comes to diagnosing allergies, it is best to start with the ingredients in your pet's diet.

Dog Food

Common irritants in your dog's food can include, corn, soy, wheat, dairy and even beef or chicken. Low grade quality meat (usually classified as "by-product" in pet food) or grains as well as artificial flavorings, colorings and preservatives can also be allergy culprits.

As I have stated on many occasions, a diet of natural, fresh, healthy homemade recipes puts you in complete control of the ingredients that you feed your pet. Here you can choose a diet that is rich in animal protein and not plant protein which is found in many lower rated commercial pet foods (and to which many dogs are allergic).

In addition, you need not worry about any additional chemicals, preservatives or additives which may be irritating your dog's health.

If you cannot go the natural homemade recipe route, your best bet is to choose what is known as a limited ingredient dog food. Sometimes, these are also called hypoallergenic dog foods. Again, rather than give you specific brands (since there are as many brands as there are opinions about which is best), allow me to provide some rough principles to help you choose a good food for allergies.

Hypoallergenic dog foods use alternative animal protein sources. In other words, many replace beef or chicken, with duck, venison, elk, rabbit or salmon. Grains such as corn, soy or wheat found in various commercial pet foods are replaced with barley, oatmeal, brown rice or potatoes.

You will not find anything artificial in these limited ingredient dog foods, and many go so far as to provide you with organic animal sources. This means, using free-range animals and grains, fruits and vegetables that do not use pesticides.

If you will using commercial dog food in feeding your pet, brands like Wysong, Sojo's Complete or Raw Addiction fit the above criteria. However, as mentioned earlier, a diet of homemade recipes allows you to control each and every ingredient in your dog's diet. This allows you to test for certain foods and add or subtract depending on how your dog reacts to each one. In the end, you want to begin feeding a small and limited number of fresh ingredients if you suspect your dog has a food allergy.

Why Does My Dog Keep Throwing Up Yellow Bile? Cause For Alarm

Why does my dog keep throwing up yellow bile? Should I be concerned? You may find yourself asking these questions if your dog has the tendency to throw up a clear yellow vomit that is sometimes frothy in nature. Stomach problems are common in dogs but can often be remedied without going to the vet. When should you be concerned and what can you do about it?

dog food for sensitive stomachs

If your dog keeps throwing up yellow bile in the morning, then the likely cause is an empty stomach. In an empty stomach, bile and stomach acids accumulate causing irritation in the stomach's lining. This in turn results in inflammation and discomfort and leads to the dog throwing up the bile.

Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

You may also notice your dog throwing up right before feeding time or directly after feeding. This is usually caused for the same reason. A previously empty stomach becomes irritated and when food is suddenly added to the equation, it becomes too much to handle and the dog vomits.

Why Does My Dog Keep Throwing Up Yellow Bile - Solutions For Stomach Ache

If your dog is throwing up yellow bile but otherwise seems fine and healthy, then there are some simple remedies you can try to fix the problem.

More frequent meals - Instead of feeding your dog two larger meals, try feeding him several small meals throughout the day. This will help keep the stomach from becoming empty and will reduce bile and stomach acid accumulation. Giving your dog hydrated instead of dry kibble can also help prevent the problem. Bedtime snack - If you find that your dog usually vomits in the morning, try feeding him a small bedtime snack so he's not going to bed on an empty stomach. Medications - Some medications such as Pepcid AC, Zantac, and Tagamet can help control bile production. Talk to your vet before giving your dog any kind of medication. Give your dog time to digest - After a meal, wait at least a couple of hours before doing any kind of activity with your dog. If your dog's stomach is upset, then excess activity can lead to vomiting.
