Homemade Cat Food - It'll Make Your Cat Purr!

Commercial cat food products can not only be very expensive to use, but are not always what is best for your cat, especially if they have special needs. Even though there is a huge variety of foods available, both for young and old, a diet high in fresh meat and poultry content will be a lot healthier for your cat than any these processed foods. Plus, you will know exactly what your cat is eating at all times. Home made cat food should be made with natural ingredients that will keep your cat healthy, and in turn do away with many of those veterinarian bills. If you love your cat, and I am sure you do or you wouldn't be reading this article, try not to skimp on their food.

One advantage of using cat food that has been prepared by you personally, is that it will be fresh. Before they were domesticated, cats living in the wild were carnivorous hunters; they had diets that consisted mainly of animals they had killed, hence, fresh meat is most natural food for your cats.

If you want your cat or kitten to stay healthy, meat is going to play an essential role in their diets. It helps give your cat lean muscle instead of fat, and is full of protein that will keep them energetic. Cats love eating raw food (or sometimes cooked ) containing meats such as chicken, fish, liver, and turkey; sometimes beef can cause allergy or other problems). You will need to use some vegetables ( not grains ) when preparing their home made diet. This will add add many of the vitamins, such as beta carotene, to their diet that are so important to a feline's general health and well being. Home made cat foods are always better than commercially bought pet food. Some store bought food is full of toxins, preservatives, chemicals, sugar, and other ingredients that can take a toll on your feline's health, causing diarrhea, vomiting and other illnesses; especially if your cat already has a sensitive stomach or other health problem.

Another advantage to home made cat foods is you will not need to add the preservatives that bought cat foods have. This will greatly reduce any chances of allergies, stomach problems, and many other problems that ready made cat foods could cause. If you have you had your cat for very long, you know what foods give them problems. When you are preparing it yourself, you can eliminate these problems as well as know for sure they are getting a healthy, well balanced, nutritious diet. You can even add vitamins in the form of liquids or crushed tablets if you feel your cat need it.

There are many available recipes on the internet you can experiment with. However, if your cat has special needs or problems you might consult your veterinarian first and show them the recipes you intend to try. They can help guide you in the right direction or give you special suggestions for your particular cat.
