My 15 year old pitbull is in pain after he eats.
2 weeks ago I fed him, way too many lamb bones in one sitting. I know now that his diet was really bad regardless of how fit he appears on the outside. Normally, I never noticed a problem with him digesting anything, however the next day he was very sore, and the day after crippled over in pain. So the following day we visited the vet $550 later, who ran a couple of x-ray's did a blood and urine test, and sent us home under the assumption he had a slipped disc even though x-rays showed nothing and needed more x-ray's with dye to see for sure. So, about 6 days after he had been sent home with a slipped disc and a lot of research, I determine he had what I went in there for in the first place and that is abdominal pain.
There is no slipped disc, his back is fine, his too busy twisting and turning after he does a wee or a poo to have had a slipped disc.
He is not vomiting, he shows a good interest in his food, he is a robust dog, still weights the same as he did 10 years back, 26kgs exactly.
He has had no prior health issues.
There is no major exposure to pollution in our air ways (yet) or that smart metre electricity wave in the area, and he drinks the rain water we drink.
His diet in the past few months although fresh, from my recent studies, extremely lack variety, was way too high in protein and extremely high in calcium from cow bones that he'd chew the ends off.
What diseases start from this kind of diet?
